The State of Georgia will be getting its first-ever waterslide coaster as Margaritaville at Lanier Islands has plans to open a new attraction, Apocalypso.
Apocalypso is part of the biggest investment Margaritaville has made at the Lake Lanier water park. The investment includes new attractions and amenities which will debut in 2024.
“Apocalypso is a fusion of heart-pounding drops and uphill blasts that will keep you on the edge of your seat,” said Margaritaville in a released statement.
The new attraction, spanning 418 feet in length, will feature the largest drop of its kind in the U.S. Riders on rafts will be sent on an exciting journey that sends them “down steep valleys and blasting them up hills.”
Three other new slides will utilize the same “iconic tower” to launch from including Serpentine Storm, Dreamsicle Dive and Mango Mania.
The Serpentine Storm is said to have “thrilling rotations with a downward-spiraling descent” while Dreamsicle Dive “offers high-intensity fun with its closed and open tubes.” The fourth new slide is a bit on the tamer side and aimed at younger riders. Mango Mania is an aqua tube slide with a less intense experience of “varying slopes and paths.”
Margaritaville at Lanier Islands Water Park will have a total of 15 slides once the four new slides open next year.
The water park is part of a larger resort experience that Margaritaville at Lanier Islands offers. Warm season offerings include the water park, camping at Camp Margaritaville RV Resort and boating at the Port of Indecision Marina, which includes several cruise options. When the weather turns colder, the resort will open License to Chill Snow Island featuring snow tubing, ice skating, amusement rides, Snowball Alley and plenty of food offerings. License to Chill Snow Island and Margaritaville’s Lakeside Lights Spectacular are set to open in November 2023.
