According to Hall County officials, a small plane went down on Thursday evening inside the Lake Lanier Islands Resort, killing the pilot.
A single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza aircraft crashed around 5:15 p.m. in a parking lot on Lanier Islands Parkway near Pine Cone Drive in Buford.
The crash killed the only passenger, Howard Lee Joe, 60 of Dunwoody, according to Hall County officials.
According to data from FlightRadar24, the Beechcraft G36 Bonanza departed Peachtree-Dekalb Airport just 15 minutes before crashing. The flight path of the aircraft took it north out of Peachtree-Dekalb Airport flying over Roswell and then it started to turn east. It went just north of Alpharetta and then continued on a northeasterly path flying over Little Ridge Park. The aircraft then flew over Tidwell Boat Ramp before its path turned to the southeast where it would ultimately fly over Lake Lanier Islands Resort and crash in a parking lot on Lanier Islands Parkway.
