Buford graduates Isaiah Bond and Jake Pope announced the new colleges they have committed to after deciding to leave Alabama and enter the NCAA transfer portal.
Bond was a wide receiver for Alabama in his sophomore year before deciding to enter the transfer portal. He decided to commit to the University of Texas to further his academic and football careers. Bond is expected to be a go-to wide receiver for the Longhorns in the 2024 season.
During the 2023 season, Bond led the Crimson Tide with 48 receptions for a total of 668 yards and four touchdowns. He is best known for the game-winning catch he made against Auburn in the Iron Bowl which saved their season.
In Bond’s high school career, he was a four-star prospect and was ranked as the No. 60 overall recruit in the Class of 2022 according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was a dual sport athlete who also excelled in track and field having won state titles in the 100-meter and 200-meter races.
Pope decided to return to his home state of Georgia by committing to further his academic and football careers at the University of Georgia. The safety did not see any playing time in 2022 and in 2023, he only saw playing time on special teams for kickoffs and punt coverage.
Pope was a four-star prospect in the Class of 2022 by ESPN.com, 247Sports, On3 and PrepStar. He was ranked as ESPN’s No. 26 safety and No. 34 player from the state and the No. 30 safety in the nation by 247Sports, to name a few. Pope was a dual sport athlete at Buford having also played baseball for the Wolves.
