The schools in the Buford area have consistently been named as some of the best schools in the state of Georgia. New information recently released indicates that northern Gwinnett County remains an area with high achievements in education.

For the ninth consecutive year, the Buford City School District has been ranked as the No. 1 Best Public School District in the state of Georgia by niche.com. Oconee County Schools and Forsyth County Schools round out the top three best districts in the state. Other local school districts are Jefferson City Schools (No. 9), Cobb County (No. 21), Fulton County (No. 23), Gwinnett County Public Schools (No. 29), Hall County (No. 55), Jackson County (No. 64) and Barrow County (No. 68).

Niche also ranked Buford City Schools as the No. 1 Best School District for Athletes, the No. 2 Best Place to Teach and the No. 3 District with the Best Teachers in the state of Georgia. Nationally, BCS comes in as the third Best School District for Athletes and is No. 59 for the Best School District.

Buford City School District received an overall Niche grade of A+. BCS received an A+ in academics, teachers, clubs and activities, sports, administration, college prep and food. The lowest grade BCS received was an A and those were for diversity and resources and facilities. 

Buford High School, Buford Middle School, Buford Senior Academy and Buford Academy each received an A+ grade while Buford Elementary School got an A.

Buford’s student-to-teacher ratio is 19:1 and the school district spends approximately $13,497 per student while the national average is $12,239 per student.
