Buford 57, Jefferson 55
The Buford girls basketball team wrapped up their play in the Jackson EMC Tournament with a win over Jefferson to clinch the championship on Tuesday, Nov. 26. They defeated Jefferson 57-55.
Sophomore guard Emiah Fields led the Buford (3-0) offense scoring 25 points. Junior point guard Lydia Ledford also had a strong performance with 24 points she contributed to the win.
The Wolves will host Walnut Grove in a non-region game on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m.
Cherokee Bluff 50, Lanier 40
The Lanier girls basketball team lost to Cherokee Bluff 50-40 in the Jackson EMC Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
The Longhorns’ overall season record falls to 2-5.
Lanier will host Roswell on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. in a Region 7-5A game.
Boys basketball
Kennesaw Mountain 66, Buford 65
Kennesaw Mountain defeated the Buford boys basketball team 66-65 in overtime at the Harrison Thanksgiving Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
Buford’s offensive leaders were sophomore Carmelo Williams (17 points) and junior Dillon Nixon (15 points).
Buford’s season record is now 1-1. The Wolves will host the Cedar Shoals Jaguars on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 3:30 p.m. in a non-region game.
Seckinger 75, Brookwood 50
Seckinger got a big win in the Jared Cook Tip-off Classic when they defeated Brookwood 75-50 on Tuesday.
Sophomore Caleb Wells led the Jaguars’s offense with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Also having strong performances for Seckinger were senior Tony Wells (15 points), senior KJ Banks (14 points) and senior Andrew Mason (10 points).
Seckinger (2-0) will host Milton on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in a Region 7-5A game.
