Buford senior pitcher Emma Grace Williams got her third win of the season as she pitched a shutout against Central Gwinnett on the road. Buford defeated Region 8-AAAAAAA opponent Central Gwinnett 17-0 in just three innings on Thursday, August 31.
Williams (3-0) was impressive in her three innings of work recording seven strikeouts without giving up any hits, runs or walks to the Black Knights.
On the offensive side, Buford (9-0, 2-0) scored early and often with sophomore Summer Castorri leading off the game with her first varsity career home run. Another underclassman, freshman Brooklyn Atha had a great game as she was 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and three runs scored. Junior Gabby Pierre earned three RBIs after she was 2-for-2 and her two doubles drove in three runs for Buford. Freshman Janie Goldin rounds out the offensive highlights for the Wolves as she was 1-for-2 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored.
Buford’s season record improves to 9-0 and 2-0 in region play.
Next for the Wolves is another region game on Tuesday, September 5 at 6 p.m. against Collins Hill at the Buford Softball Complex.
