Both of Buford’s varsity basketball teams earned important Region 8-6A wins against Discovery on Monday night, Jan. 6 at Discovery High School.
The boys defeated Discovery 65-58 to remain in sole possession of first place in Region 8-6A. Buford’s overall season record improved to 10-3 and 4-0 in Region 8-6A.
The Wolves were led by senior Edward Hunter III, who scored 18 points. Sophomore Carmelo Williams contributed 13 points for Buford.
Buford’s girls varsity basketball team beat Discovery by seven points with a final score of 48-41. They improved to 11-1 and 3-1 in Region 8-6A. The Wolves are in second place in their region just behind Mill Creek.
Junior Lydia Ledford was Buford’s scoring leader with 17 points while sophomore E’miah Fields wasn’t far behind with 14 points scored.
Both teams will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at the Buford Arena against a key Region 8-6A opponent, Collins Hill. The girls start at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m.
