A Buford High School outfielder has been ranked as the No. 2 overall player and No. 2 outfielder in the state for the Class of 2025 by Prep Baseball.

Prep Baseball released its “Georgia Class of 2025 Updated Rankings” on May 22 and rising senior Cannon Goldin made the Top 10 list at No. 2.

The 6-foot, 180-pound outfielder spent part of the 2024 high school baseball season as Buford’s lead-off batter. He sustained an injury during the season that prevented him from playing the entire season but when he did, he was often the lead-off batter. Goldin has the ability to accurately read pitches to make the most of his at-bats. Whether it is a single hit, a double, a walk or a sac fly, Goldin has the ability to help his team get around the bases.

In addition to his hitting abilities is Goldin’s knack for stealing bases. During a game on March 15 against Mountain View, he stole three bases in that game alone.

Defensively, Goldin is a beast in the outfield as he can consistently throw the ball in the high 80 mph range across the field to make the big plays.

The left-hander committed to play for Ole Miss in March 2023 after he graduates from Buford in 2025.

Perfect Game has Goldin with a PG grade of 9.5 and is ranked as the No. 19 MLB prospect nationally by FSS Plus.
