A suspect has been identified and is in custody following a shooting that took place on Saturday night at the Mall of Georgia.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m., an officer on security detail at the mall heard gunshots and immediately ran towards the gunshots. A 15-year-old boy was shot during the incident and transported to a local hospital. His identity is not being released at this time.

A suspect, later identified as 18-year-old Khaden Williams of Dekalb County, was seen trying to run from the scene. Police caught up with Williams and he was taken into custody.

Williams has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is being held in the Gwinnett County jail without bail.

The shooting occurred outside of the mall not too long after the mall had closed. The movie theater was still operational at the time.
