Junior Summer Castorri blasted a three-run home run in the fifth inning, which was one of the highlights of Buford’s 9-1 win over Region 8-6A opponent Mill Creek on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the Buford Softball Complex.

Lead-off batter, sophomore Brooklyn Atha was walked to begin the fifth inning. Senior Izzy Rettiger followed next with a single hit putting runners on first and second bases. Castorri then hits a three-run home run, her fifth of the season, over the left field wall driving in Atha and Rettiger making the score 7-0.

Mill Creek’s troubles in the inning were far from over as two batters later, junior Addie Rackley reached first base on a Mill Creek error. Following Rackley was junior Kadyn Gabrels who hit her fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot to right field invoking the run rule to end the game at 9-1 in favor of the Lady Wolves.

Mill Creek scored their only run of the game in the top of the third inning. Buford answered back in the bottom of the inning adding two more runs courtesy of a bases-loaded line drive double by Rackley to make it 4-0.
