Seckinger High School in Buford is only in its second year of operation and is quickly building a culture that is uniquely theirs. The Athletic Department at Seckinger recently shared the accomplishments their student-athletes made during year two on social media.
Seckinger athletic teams appeared in 11 state playoffs while 13 student-athletes were All-County selections and seven were All-State selections.
Seckinger earned its first-ever state championship after its e-sports team captured the state title. The Jaguars defeated Landmark Christian 3-1 in Smash Bros. Ultimate (GHSA Classes A-4A) to capture the 2023-24 Fall Esports State Championship.
Other notable accomplishments made by Seckinger Athletics were:
- Final Four Finish in fastpitch softball
- Elite Eight Finish in boys basketball
- Top 10 Finish for the girls swim and dive team
- Girls county wrestling champions
- Sweet 16 Finish in baseball
- Two Top Three Individual Finishes in track and field
- First Region Championship for the girls track and field team
Seckinger High School opened in the fall of 2022 at 3655 Sardis Church Road in Buford. The school was needed to help the overcrowding at nearby Mill Creek and Mountain View High Schools. Seckinger High School was named after former Gwinnett County School Board Member Dan Seckinger, who served in that role for 24 years. The high school was designed for a student capacity of 2,800. Seckinger High School has three elementary schools and one middle school that feeds up into it. Those schools are Harmony Elementary, Ivy Creek Elementary, Patrick Mill Elementary and Twin Rivers Middle.
