A person was injured in a shooting at the Mall of Georgia in Buford on Saturday night, Jan. 4, 2025. The shooting victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A little before 9:30 p.m. on Saturday night, gunshots were heard by an officer working security detail at the Mall of Georgia. The officer immediately ran toward the gunshots.

One person was found to be injured during the shooting and was transported to a local hospital. There is no word yet about their condition.

A subject, attempting to flee the scene, was quickly apprehended by officers.

One person has been taken to the Gwinnett County Police Department Headquarters to be questioned.

Detectives canvassed the area looking for possible witnesses who either heard or saw the shooting take place.

The shooting victim’s identity has yet to be released.
