On August 27, 1901, a young man is alleged to have stabbed his uncle over a misunderstanding in Buford.
The stabbing was reported in the August 29, 1901, edition of The News-Herald. The article was titled, “Young man stabs his uncle.”
According to the article, Claud Martin, the son of Deputy Sheriff R. T. Martin stabbed his uncle by marriage, Jesse Hamilton. Hamilton was “cut in four places very painfully, but not seriously.”
Martin was said to have stabbed Hamilton over an old misunderstanding. Hamilton had his wounds dressed by Dr. W. W. Power and was expected to be back out in town in “a week or two.”
