Grayson broke the Buford varsity baseball team’s 11-game winning streak on Monday, April 1 at Grayson. The Rams took both games in the doubleheader with scores of 5-4 and 5-3.
In the first game of the day, Buford trailed 5-2 going into the sixth inning. They staged a two-run rally but were unable to tie the game to force extra innings. Grayson won the game 5-4.
Buford senior Nate Taylor (5-2) records the loss after giving up 10 hits and five runs (four earned) while striking out six and walking one in his five innings on the mound.
In Game Two, Grayson got on the board first with a run in the second inning. Buford took the lead in the third inning with a two-run home run to center field by Taylor. The Wolves added another run in the sixth inning giving them a 3-1 lead. However, things went south for the Wolves in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Rams scored four runs ultimately giving Grayson a 5-3 win.
Taking the loss for Buford was senior Damian Brown (2-1). Brown pitched for 5.1 innings, giving up seven hits and four earned runs while striking out six and walking two.
Buford’s overall season record fell to 15-6 and 9-0 in Region 8-7A.
The Wolves travel to play Marist on Wednesday, April 3. The game starts at 5 p.m.
