The Buford High School varsity wrestling team shined at the 2024 Class 7A Section B meet at Lambert High School on Saturday, Feb. 10.
The Wolves had all 14 of their wrestlers qualify for the GHSA Class 7A State Traditional Championships that will be held in Macon on Feb 15-17.
As a team, Buford placed first at the Sectional meet after accumulating 178 points, over 100 points ahead of second-place finisher, West Forsyth with 75 points. Carrollton (71 points), Mill Creek (70 points) and North Cobb (51 points) round out the top five teams for the Section B meet.
Buford had eight individual weight-class champions on Saturday — DJ Clarke (113 lbs.), Kieron McCormack (126 lbs.), Maddox McArthur (132 lbs.), Drew Gorman (138 lbs.), Gavin Pope (144 lbs.), Callum McCormack (157 lbs.), Grayson Santee (165 lbs.) and Conor McCloskey (190 lbs.).

Buford’s other six team members had top finishes and will move on to the state championships — Second place: Rylan Ibold (120 lbs.) and Hudson Danielson (150 lbs.); Third place: Aaron Riner (215 lbs.) and Albert Butler (285 lbs.); Fifth place: Jax Pope (175 lbs.) and Sixth place: Tyson Matz (106 lbs.).
