In just its second year, the Buford flag football program hosted its first-ever Kickoff Classic tournament at Buford High School on Saturday, Oct. 5 and came away as the tournament champions.

The tournament featured teams from Apalachee, Archer, Buford, Chattahoochee, Carrollton, Duluth, Decatur and Harrison.

Buford defeated Apalachee 27-0 in its first game of the day and then beat Duluth 19-0 in the next game. In the final game of the tournament, the Wolves faced Decatur and were able to get a 20-13 win to capture the title of Kickoff Classic Champions. Buford improved to 4-1 on the season.

The Wolves had several noteworthy performances with the first coming from junior Kaylee Johnson in the quarterback position against Apalachee and Decatur. She completed 24 of 32 passes for a total of 242 yards and six touchdowns.

Mia Bouton gave strong performances in all three games whether she was playing the quarterback, running back or wide receiver. She had seven receptions for 76 yards and two touchdowns, four carries for 20 yards and was 6-for-7 for 64 yards and a touchdown passing.

Other notable performances came from Braleigh Wansley (46-yard TD catch, an interception), Abby Norris (26-yard TD catch, two interceptions), Danica Jones (two rushes for 23 yards), Payton Apolenis (three receptions for 15 yards) and Sarah Duran (two catches for 28 yards, one TD).
