UPDATE: Sushi Niko Niko Hibachi, after failing their initial routine health inspection with a score of 61U on Feb. 13, was revisited by the health inspector to undergo their follow-up inspection. The follow-up inspection was conducted on Feb. 23.
During their follow-up health inspection, Sushi Niko Niko Hibachi had three health code violations.
- Wet wiping cloths stored on counters when they should be stored in a sanitizer bucket
- The restaurant did not have its most recent health inspection score from Feb. 13, 2024, posted in public view
- Employee drinks were being stored with clean dishes
With only those three code violations, Sushi Niko Niko Hibachi passed their health inspection with a score of 95A. The health inspector noted that the restaurant had corrected the three violations noted in this inspection. To view the full inspection report, click here.
ORIGINAL POST: During a routine health inspection, a Buford area hibachi and sushi restaurant had multiple health code violations resulting in a failing score.
On Tuesday, Feb. 13, a health inspector with the Gwinnett County Health Department conducted a routine health inspection at Sushi Niko Niko Hibachi at 3260 Buford Drive, Suite 20 and 30 in Buford. After multiple violations were found, the restaurant received a health inspection score of 61U.
Some of the most notable violations found were:
- Improper storage of multiple items throughout the kitchen area including raw beef stored over ready-to-eat foods, raw chicken stored over raw shelled eggs and avocados stored over ready-to-eat foods
- A black mold-like substance was found on the inside of the ice machine in the hibachi room
- Several temperature-controlled sensitive foods were not holding a the proper temperatures
- Multiple TCS foods did not cool to 41F in the four-hour time frame
- Multiple TCS foods were marked with the wrong start and discard times
- The restaurant was using improper methods for cooling TCS foods
- Food was being stored next to the handwashing sink with no splash guards present
- Washed radishes were being wrapped in newspaper
- One of the sushi cooler drawers was not cold enough and needed maintenance
- A lot of rust build-up was found on the shelves in the walk-in cooler
A follow-up inspection will be conducted within the next 10 days.
