Buford 57, Central Gwinnett 42

Junior point guard Lydia Ledford had an impressive night against fellow Region 8-6A opponent Central Gwinnett on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Ledford led the Buford offense scoring 30 points against the Black Knights in the Wolves’ 57-42 win over Central Gwinnett.

Ledford scored in every quarter on Tuesday, starting with eight points in the first quarter. Her second-quarter performance was her best of the game with 11 points scored. Ledford put up 11 points in the second half.

Sophomore Emiah Fields also had a strong showing as she scored the second-most points for the Wolves with 17.

Buford’s varsity girls basketball team remains undefeated with an overall record of 7-0 and 2-0 in Region 8-6A.

The Wolves will travel to play East Forsyth on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 1:30 p.m. in a non-region game.

Milton 49, Lanier 48

Milton barely edges out Lanier in a 49-48 win in Region 7-5A competition on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at Milton.

Lanier’s standouts against Milton were freshman Jadyn Morris (17 points, two steals), sophomore Michelle Ezumah (10 points, 14 rebounds, four steals, two blocks), senior Ta’Lynn Harris (9 points, three rebounds) and senior Oluwadamilare Falade (eight points, three rebounds).

The Longhorns’ overall season record is 4-6 and 2-1 in Region 7-5A.

Lanier will host Gainesville on Friday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. in Region 7-5A competition.

Chattahoochee 31, Seckinger 21

The Seckinger varsity girls fell to Chattahoochee on Tuesday, Dec. 10 in Region 7-5A play. Chattahoochee defeated Seckinger 31-21.

Seckinger’s overall season record falls to 2-5 and 0-3 in Region 7-5A.

The Jaguars will travel to play Mountain View on Monday, Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. in a non-region game.

Boys basketball

Buford 73, Central Gwinnett 54

In Region 8-6A play, Buford beat Central Gwinnett 73-54 on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at Central Gwinnett. The Wolves are now 2-0 in the region and 5-1 overall.

Buford’s offensive standouts were junior Dillon Nixon (21 points), senior Kyle Carpenter (18 points) and sophomore Carmelo Williams (17 points).

The Wolves travel to play Mill Creek on Monday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. in Region 7-5A play.

Milton 84, Lanier 48

In Region 7-5A play, Milton defeated Lanier 84-48 on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at Milton. The Longhorns’s season record fell to 7-4 and 1-2 in a tough Region 7-5A.

Lanier will host another region opponent, Gainesville on Friday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Seckinger 62, Chattahoochee 59

Seckinger earned a 62-59 win over Chattahoochee in front of a home crowd on Tuesday, Dec. 10 in Region 7-5A competition.

The Jaguars were led by senior KJ Banks (22 points), sophomore Caleb Wells (14 points) and senior Tony Wells (13 points).

Seckinger’s overall season record improved to 6-1 and 2-1 in Region 7-5A.

The Jaguars will play Cherokee Bluff on Saturday, Dec. 14 in a non-region game.
