Buford 78, Mill Creek 58
Buford boys basketball traveled to Region 8-7A rival Mill Creek on Tuesday, Jan. 9 where the Wolves defeated the Hawks 78-58.
Leading Buford’s offense was Chase James-Robinson with 20 points. Brennan Wansley was not far behind with 19 points scored against Mill Creek.
Buford’s overall record improved to 13-3 and 2-0 in Region 8-7A.
The Wolves will travel to play another region opponent, Central Gwinnett on Friday, Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
Lanier 69, Jackson Co. 41
Lanier’s boys basketball team picks up a key Region 8-6A win over Jackson County on Tuesday, Jan. 9 with a final score of 69-41.
Standouts for the Longhorns were senior Tahai Morgan (21 points, six rebounds), junior Amari Morgan (17 points, 11 rebounds), junior Bruce Hart (11 points), junior DeAndre Cowan (10 points, four steals, three rebounds), senior Brandon Lanier (four points, 10 rebounds) and senior Cameron Thornton (four points, 10 assists).
Lanier’s overall record improved to 6-8 and 1-1 in Region 8-6A.
The Longhorns will host Shiloh at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12 in another region game.
Girls basketball
Buford 63, Mill Creek 41
Senior Ava Grace Watson led the Lady Wolves to a 63-41 win over Region 8-7A rival Mill Creek on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at Mill Creek. Watson scored 24 points, the most of any Buford player in the game.
Other offensive standouts for Buford were sophomore Lydia Ledford who scored 15 points and freshman E’miah Fields who contributed eight points.
Buford improved to an overall record of 13-1 and 2-0 in Region 8-7A.
The Lady Wolves will travel to play region opponent Central Gwinnett on Friday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m.
Lanier 31, Jackson Co. 24
Lanier’s defense allowed the Lady Longhorns to pick up a region win over Jackson County with a score of 31-24 on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at Jackson County.
Standouts for Lanier were senior Asja Howell (10 points, four rebounds, four steals), sophomore Jordan Johnson (eight points, six steals, four rebounds), junior Oluwadamilare Falade (six points, three rebounds, three steals) and freshman Michelle Ezumah (six points, three rebounds).
Lanier’s overall record improved to 5-9 and 1-1 in Region 8-6A.
Lanier will host Shiloh on Friday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. in a region game.
