MaxPreps released its 2024 MaxPreps State Players of the Year Awards list for softball on June 5 and a Buford High School player won the Georgia award.

Caroline Stanton, Class of 2026 was selected as the 2024 MaxPreps Georgia Player of the Year for her performance during the 2023 season.

During her sophomore season, the right-handed pitcher was the starting pitcher for 13 games, saved one game and pitched 81.33 innings. Stanton pitched eight shutouts and had a 14-0 record. She averaged close to 13 strikeouts per game with a total of 147 strikeouts. Stanton ended the season with a 0.77 ERA.

Stanton was effective on the offense with a .384 batting average helping the Buford High School varsity softball team win the GHSA Class AAAAAAA State Championship for the second consecutive year.
