An excavator caught on fire and tore down power lines in the Buford/South Hall County area on Monday, April 1.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon in the 5900 block of Blackberry Lane near McEver Road in Buford.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office posted on its social media that the fire impacted several power substations in the area even though the fire was located away from major thoroughfares. This impacted homes and businesses in the vicinity causing widespread power outages. Additionally, multiple traffic lights along Hog Mountain Road and the traffic lights at Mundy Mill Road and McEver Road went out.
Hall County Fire Rescue worked tirelessly to put out the fire while Jackson EMC responded to handle the fire’s impact on power in the area.
