The Drug Enforcement Agency arrests a doctor and his staff who are suspected of running a pill mill in unincorporated Buford and Roswell.
Isaac Sved, M.D. 65, of Gainesville, Georgia, was arraigned on charges of federal charges of conspiracy to possess, and possession, with intent to distribute controlled substances, maintaining a premises for drug trafficking, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and money laundering.
The charges are in connection with him allegedly abusing his ability to prescribe controlled substances like Oxycodone, Alprazolam, and Carisoprodol. Sved was registered with the DEA to be able to prescribe those controlled substances.
Sved was the registered physician for two Atlanta-area clinics: Valere Medical PC in Buford, Georgia and FamCare in Roswell, Georgia. Valere Medical PC is located at 3331 Hamilton Mill Road in Buford.
According to a statement released by the Northern District of Georgia of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, his “patients received minimal or non-existent medical examinations, evaluation, or testing prior to Sved prescribing them controlled substances such as Oxycodone, Alprazolam, and Carisoprodol.”
Sved is also accused of prescribing “excessive amounts of controlled substances in dangerous combinations.” Additionally, he is said to have created fake records for patients stating that the patients were evaluated on certain dates when the patients were never seen in his office on that date to be evaluated.
The physician is also accused of taking large sums of money from “sponsors” who had Sved write prescriptions for “purported patients” who were never seen by him. Allegedly, one such “sponsor” was Bobby Lamar Mosley, Sr., 60 of Buford, Georgia. It is said that Sved and his “co-conspirators” hired security guards armed with firearms “to patrol and protect the clinic as part of the illegal operation.”
“Sved and his Co-conspirators Dikla Rosh, 45, of Dunwoody, Georgia, Lucciano Lopez, 27, of Sandy Springs, Georgia, and Bobby Lamar Mosley, Sr., 60, of Buford, Georgia, were indicted by a federal grand jury on January 9, 2024.” Rosh is said to have been the manager of FamCare and Lopez worked as a medical assistant.
The case remains under investigation by the Drug Enforcement Agency and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Amy M. Palumbo and C. Brock Brockington.
